Palestiina- aiheisia kirjoja Turun kirjastoissa
While the Israeli genocide in Gaza is still ongoing and settler and military violence continues in the occupied territories, Publishers for Palestine have been organising Read Palestine Week annually to encourage people to read books by Palestinian authors and about Palestine and to make reading and learning about Palestine an act of solidarity.
Turku with Palestine has previously promoted the fact that the Turku city libraries have over 160 books about Palestine. These books are all gathered in the ”FREE PALESTINE” library list that you can find in the linktree in our bio. As Read Palestine Week is coming to an end, we wanted to point Turku residents to some of the books that can be borrowed through the city library system. We have sorted them out according to languages (Finnish, Swedish, Arabic, English) and to genre. While the Finnish and Swedish selections also contain books written by non-Palestinian authors about Palestine, the rest of the selection is mostly written by Palestinian authors. This is a non-exhaustive list and there are plenty more that you can find on the ”FREE PALESTINE” list!
Turku with Palestine encourages everyone to read Palestinian authors and about Palestine and to do so publicly and in community as Publishers for Palestine have called us to do. Turku with Palestine has an ongoing reading circle that is open to all, but we also encourage you to introduce Palestinian literature to your own reading circles, organize a public reading at your library, in the city centre, or at your school or university, include Palestinian literature in your courses, print some Palestinian poetry and spread it around, there are many creative ways to show up for Palestine and we must make sure that we keep on acting in solidarity with the Palestinian people in various ways.
